In 1990, Otis made her acting debut in the film Wild Orchid opposite future husband Mickey Rourke.Stills from the film's climactic sex scene were sold to Playboy, and were the subject of a lawsuit filed by Otis.Otis, a San Francisco native who rose to fame in the 1990s as a Guess model and wife of tempestuous actor Mickey Rourke, found that success did not come without a price. Speaking with the Times' Style magazine, she said: 'I’m not taking down someone with a squeaky-clean image here.'Reacting to the damaging claims, an Elite representative told Vogue.com: 'Elite London re-opened under new management in 2009, by which time Gerald Marie had already left the Elite Network, so I'm afraid we are not in a position to comment on this story.'Despite the difficulties she has faced, she went on to a hugely successful modelling career, facing campaigns for Guess and Calvin Klein as well as adorning Pirelli calendars, Vogue, Playboy and Harper's Bazaar.
She first achieved fame while working for Elite in Paris, when she appeared on the cover of French Elle in April 1986.
Over the next several years, she appeared on covers in the American and foreign editions of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Allure, Mirabella, and Marie Claire.
In her book, “Beauty, Disrupted,” she claims Mickey was controlling from the start and that in 1991, things turned dangerous. I was really unbelievably lucky that is didn’t hit a bone.” Carre claims a fight turned physical in 1992, the first of numerous times she says Mickey hit her.
“We were on a set in Santa Fe, Mickey was working, and there was a horrific accident,” Carre recounted. A rep for the actor did not respond to a request for comment from regarding Carre’s allegations in her book; however, he has previously denied abuse allegations.
